It is National Champagne Day which of course coincides with New Year’s Eve.
The champagne will be flowing across the state as Wisconsinites welcome a new decade. The cost of the bubbly is far less in the Badger State than other states because the excise tax is one of the lowest in the country. Tax Foundation-dot-org says Wisconsin ranks 47th with only a 25-cent excise tax per gallon on champagne, which is about five bottles.
