Eau Claire Parks & Recreation announces that all warming shelters will open for the season today with regular holiday hours offering hot cocoa, indoor games, and arts and crafts. Pinehurst will also be open for sledding, snowboarding, and cross-country skiing.
2019-2020 warming shelter holiday hours will continue through January 1.
Boyd & Pinehurst: 11am‐8pm
Demmler, Oakwood, Putnam Heights, Roosevelt, Sam Davey: 11am‐7pm
Indoor Skating Opportunities at Hobbs Ice Arena 11am-1pm and 1:15pm-3:15pm. $4/person OR EC RecPass (1 punch) Includes skate rental. Note: Limited number of skates available. Participants encouraged to bring their own skates.

However, when it comes to lacing up the skates, Eau Claire’s outdoor ice rinks ares the latest victim of the warm December. Managers yesterday said the rinks at Pinehurst Park and Boyd Park will be closed till further notice. The rinks were supposed to open yesterday, but a warm week had left the rinks with almost as much water as ice.
