PETS AND PLANTS DON’T ALWAYS MIX

Holiday plants are popular decorations in Wisconsin homes but there are some that are toxic to the family pets.

Poinsettia plants have the reputation of being deadly to kids and pets but it’s more likely to irritate the mouth and cause nausea and intestinal upset.  Holly and mistletoe have greater toxicity and Christmas cactus isn’t toxic but it can cause intestinal issues.  In addition, those prickly spines can injure a dog or cat and curious kittens and puppies.
