CAMPUS INCIDENT ENDS SAFELY

An incident ends safely after some alarm from students on campus in Marshfield.

It was Thursday, December 17th just before 5 in the afternoon when Marshfield Police were dispatched to a man with a gun at UW Stevens Point – Marshfield Campus. Two students reported a disoriented male with what appeared to be a handgun in his jacket pocket. The man was wearing a green stocking cap and appeared lost looking for a staircase.

Officers from Marshfield, State Patrol, Wood County assisted with evacuating, clearing, and searching the campus for this subject. Through investigation, it was learned that the campus is open to walkers in cold weather.
