An accident turns deadly on I 94.
It was just after 9 on Friday night when law enforcement agencies responded to a report of a roll-over crash on I-94 near MM 64 with possible ejection. Officers arrived on scene and found a body lying on the eastbound lanes of I-94. A full closure of I-94 eastbound was initiated and traffic re-routed off at exit 59.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2006 Chevy Trailblazer traveling westbound entered the median, rolled several times and struck a guard rail.
41-year-old Elvis Mejia was ejected and came to rest in the eastbound lanes. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Three other occupants of the Trailblazer, one adult female, Amy Mejia, and 2 teenagers, were transported to Mayo in Eau Claire with non-life-threatening injuries.
