Wisconsin’s National Guard commander is off the job after Governor Tony Evers demanded he step down because of a failed investigation into complaints of sexual assault.
Adjutant General Donald Dunbar resigned yesterday. The governor asked for his resignation after a report stated that Dunbar forced the investigation of sexual assault complaints to go through guard investigators so they could shield the guard from state and federal regulators. The report also says the guard didn’t follow Defense Department guidelines on sexual assault and harassment, and that the guard didn’t have enough trained advocates to handle cases here in Wisconsin.
Governor Evers says he’s ‘extremely upset and concerned’ about the report into the investigation.
