UWEC SUSPENDS PLAYERS; INVESTIGATES RACIAL INCIDENT

Five members of the UW Eau Claire football team won’t be playing until the school investigates a picture of a KKK rally and who shared it online.

Chancellor Jim Schmidt says the players shared the picture of men in hoods next to a burning cross earlier this week on Snapchat. The caption made reference to the Black Male Empowerment group, and fictitious White Male Empowerment group.

The student vice president of UW Eau Claire’s Black Male Empowerment group says he played football with some of the suspended players. He says they may have been joking, but it’s not funny.
