RESTRAINT TECHNIQUES REEXAMINED

The rules in Wisconsin could be changing for when schools can lock disruptive kids away in tiny rooms, and forcibly hold them down until they become calm.

A state Senate panel yesterday heard from parents and disability activists who want the rules for student isolation and restraint to be updated. State Senator Luther Olsen is pushing a plan that would ban some isolation and restraint techniques, and require schools to report how and when they use them. But the law would not ban either in the state of Wisconsin.
