RAIN CAUSES TRAIL CLOSURES IN EAU CLAIRE

Recent heavy rain in the upper Chippewa River watershed is causing increased levels on the Chippewa River in Eau Claire.

At 6 a.m. the Chippewa River gauge at Grand Avenue read just under 764 feet, which is about 9 feet below the flood stage reading of 773 feet.

For the safety of residents, the following areas will be closed effective immediately:
▪ Chippewa River Trail – behind the UW-Eau Claire Fine Arts Building
▪ Chippewa River Trail – at the boat landing behind Hobbs Ice Arena

The current crest projection is 766 feet on Thursday.
