BACK TO SCHOOL 101: NEW VAPING RULES FOR STUDENTS, COMMUTER REMINDERS

Students in Eau Claire who get caught vaping this year will get a second chance before they get a ticket.

The school district this week announced plans to send students caught vaping to a class, called Catch My Breath, instead of the old punishment which was a 50-dollar ticket and a one-day suspension.  Eau Claire schools are clear though, students caught vaping will still be suspended, they just won’t be fined.  The district says part of the idea is to teach young people about the dangers of vaping.

On that note, do not be surprised to see more cops near Eau Claire’s schools next week.  Police commanders yesterday said they will step-up patrols starting Tuesday when kids head back to school.  Eau Claire police are reminding people to stop for stopped school buses, slow down near schools, and to stay off the phone while dropping kids off or picking them up after school
