Some of the most extreme weather on the entire continent happens right here in Wisconsin.
According to International Arctic Research Center Climatologist Brian Bettschneider, the difference in lowest wind chills to highest heat indexes felt this year is over 165 degrees in some parts of the state. Eau Claire saw a difference of 158 degrees while La Crosse saw a difference of 168 degrees. One spot in Minnesota saw a difference of 180 degrees.
On that note, after our latest round of storms early everyone in west-central Wisconsin has power back. Most of the long-lasting outages were between Cumberland and Turtle Lake, near Echo, Moon, and Horseshoe Lakes. According to Barron Electric Cooperative, only between one and five people are still without power. They’re near Lake Chetek and Ten Mile Lake.
