Lawmakers in Madison are looking to spend four-million-dollars to place another 14-thousand-acres of woodlands off limits.
The state’s budget writing committee, the Joint Finance Committee, yesterday approved four-point-three-million-dollars to buy the land in Iron County. But that may not be enough. The state’s Department of Natural Resources says the land could be worth as much as six-and-a-half-million-dollars. The sellers, Keweenaw Land Association, will now have to decide if they want to let the land go at that price.
