Some state lawmakers have an idea to attract more volunteer firefighters and emergency medical service workers.
A tax credit program is being proposed that would help volunteers pay for getting their accreditation and continued education. One Wisconsin EMS association board member says about 80-percent of the state’s EMS workers are volunteers.
