LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT REMEMBERS OUR GIRL SCOUTS

Wisconsin lawmakers are considering a bill that would give more protections to people volunteering to clean up roads.

The Adopt-A-Highway Bill would double fines for traffic violations near volunteers working on roads just like in work zones and highway maintenance areas.  The bill is inspired by the November death of three Girl Scouts and a mother who were picking up trash on the side of a highway in Lake Hallie-and on that note, keep your eyes out in our community as there is a special importance to Rescue 3055 at the Chippewa Falls Fire Department.

The new UTV is dedicated to the three local Girls Scouts who died last fall while doing their community service projects.  Firefighters dedicated the new vehicle over the weekend.  The Chief (Scott Bernette) said fire crews wanted to do something special for the local scouts, and he said the new dedication will remind everyone of service to the community every time it goes out.
