Wisconsin lawmakers are considering a bill that would give more protections to people volunteering to clean up roads.
The Adopt-A-Highway Bill would double fines for traffic violations near volunteers working on roads just like in work zones and highway maintenance areas.
The bill is inspired by the November death of three Girl Scouts and a mother who were picking up trash on the side of a highway in Lake Hallie.
