The Center for Dairy Research at University of Wisconsin-Madison is getting a grant to create dairy drinks that don’t need to be refrigerated.
The center’s director says it recently received about one-million dollars from the Wisconsin Economic Corp. and Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin. The director says the program will use aseptic technology that sterilizes milk and its packaging so it limits the amount of bacteria milk is exposed to. Doing this, milk wouldn’t need to be refrigerated until after it’s opened.
