Governor Tony Evers’ top officials are getting paid about six-percent more than what they earned last year.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports that cabinet officials are seeing an even larger sum of money following the raises Evers rolled out. But, even with the increase, Evers’ top-paid cabinet secretary still makes less than someone who held that position 16 years ago. Republican lawmakers have been very critical of Evers’ pay increases, calling them excessive. But, Evers’ office says the raises are reasonable and shows that the governor values public service.
And they wonder why there is no money for the roads.
