Governor Tony Evers says lead poisoning is a risk to children statewide and legislators need to do everything in their power to fix it.
The governor posted a map today with red dots representing where kids under the age of six tested positive for lead poisoning. The greatest clusters of contamination were in Milwaukee, Watertown and Racine as well as in seven counties including Sheboygan, Rock, Marquette and Dodge. The rates of lead poisoning among children in those areas are sometimes double the statewide rate measured in 2016.
