Warm temperatures during the day and below freezing temps at night continue to allow a relatively slow spring thaw.
At 11 a.m. today the Chippewa River gauge at Grand Avenue read 765.6 feet. This is 7.4 feet below the downtown flood stage of 773
feet. At its current level the Chippewa River level is elevated to an Action stage resulting in the continued closure of the lowest lying
areas of the Chippewa River trail.
For the safety of residents the following areas remain closed:
o Chippewa River Trail
Behind UW-Eau Claire Fine Arts Building
The boat landing behind Hobbs Ice Arena
While the river is rising at a slow and deliberate pace the City will continue to monitor the river closely and provide information and
updates as necessary.
