WI POLITICAL NOTES: PLANNED PARENTHOOD LAWSUIT STATIC, QUESTIONS ABOUT CABINET APPOINTEE

Republican legislators are looking to intervene in a lawsuit brought by Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin over the state’s abortion laws.  Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says Attorney General Josh Paul can’t be trusted to defend Wisconsin’s abortion laws.  Planned Parenthood’s attorney says the move would just raise costs for taxpayers in the case.

Republicans on a Senate committee are split on Governor Tony Evers’ cabinet appointee Dawn Crim citing concerns over a 2005 child abuse charge.  Crim is the secretary-designee of the Department of Safety and Professional Services.  She fielded questions from lawmakers on the panel yesterday, also dealing with inquiries about her professional qualifications.
