- The woman tapped by Governor Tony Evers to lead Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services is ignoring the half-billion dollar cost of expanding Medicaid in the state. DHS Secretary designee Andrea Palm released a statement yesterday that highlights what she says will be the advantages of adding 82- thousand people to the state’s healthcare rolls. But she did not mention that adding all of those people would cost taxpayers in the state 600-million-dollars.
- Add the home of the World Dairy Expo to the list of projects Governor Evers wants to spend money on. The governor yesterday said he wants lawmakers to find 30-million-dollars for the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. That’s a little under half of what center managers say they need to upgrade and expand the arena. There’s no word where the state money would come from.
- Governor Tony Evers is advocating for undocumented immigrants to be able to get driver’s licenses and I.D. cards. Evers made the suggestion during his first budget proposal. Evers says he believes allowing them to get licenses would make roads safer and strengthen the economy. Critics say this would only incentivize people to come to the country illegally to receive benefits.
