The city of Sun Prairie is suing companies over a deadly gas explosion last July.
On Friday, the city filed a lawsuit against an underground utility locating company and a gas utility. The lawsuit accuses the two companies Bear Communications and VC Tech of negligence stemming from a failure to locate a gas service line before starting a project to bury fiber-optic cable. Last July, an explosion happened when gas leaked out of a gas line in downtown Sun Prairie.
Buildings were destroyed and Sun Prairie Volunteer Fire Department Captain Cory Barr was killed as a result.
