Federal workers in Madison are feeling the affects of the partial government shutdown.
The Forest Products Laboratory employs about 140 people at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. It’s also one of the many federal research centers which has benched their employees amid the shutdown which has gone on for nearly a month. The deputy director of Forest Products Laboratory says there’s a Ph.D at the facility who has resorted to cleaning houses to make ends meet during the shutdown.
The shutdown stems from an impasse between Congress and President Trump over funding for a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.
