A notice submitted to the state from Shopko reveals how the retailer struggled to stay afloat.
The notice, sent to the Department of Workforce Development yesterday, says when the two Shopko stores in Madison close in April, only 63 workers will be laid off. This number is a lot lower than previously reported numbers when the two stores first opened in the 1980’s. During that time, the stores employed nearly 600 workers.
