Governor Walker is ordering flags flown at half-staff to honor a hero firefighter. Lake Mills fire Captain Christopher Truman was helping a driver at a crash site New Year’s Eve when he was hit and killed on Highway 12 in Monona.
The governor has ordered the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin be lowered on Sunday. A memorial service for Truman is also being held on Sunday.
Attorneys for the man blamed for the deadly crash that killed Lake Mills firefighter Christopher Truman say their client had a blood alcohol level below the legal limit. Attorneys with Anderson and O’Connell say preliminary tests indicate a blood-alcohol content of point-seven-nine, which is just under the legal limit of point-zero-eight. Authorities say Samuel Cremers is responsible for the death of Truman on New Year’s Eve. Truman was hit after stopping to help another driver involved in a crash.
