The transition team for Governor-elect Tony Evers is tapping some Milwaukee leaders for top positions. The transition team announced today that Joel Brennan, who had served the campaign manager for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett, will be Evers’ top aide. Sarah Meaney will be the Secretary of Tourism and Kevin Carr, a U.S. Marshal, will head the Department of Corrections.
Governor-elect Tony Evers is appointing top Milwaukee official Preston Cole as secretary of the state Department of Natural Resources. Cole is a forester by training and says top priorities will be to mend relations within the agency while working with a critical Republican-controlled Legislature. Cole will also have to deal with budget cuts that will reduce science positions at the agency.
