A local attorney is weighing in on an infant death case involving a ten-year-old suspect. Authorities say the girl confessed to stomping the six-month-old’s head after the child hit its head on a footstool and started crying. Local defense attorney Harry Hertel says the case is currently in adult court because of an exception for intentional homicide charges.
Hertel says the case could be returned to juvenile court because of the girl’s age, if she has mental health issues or doesn’t understand the procedures. The girl is set to return to court in January.
