Republican Attorney General Brad Schimel will reportedly decide TODAY (Monday) if he will pursue a recount in the election against Josh Kaul. The move comes after the state Elections Commission released preliminary numbers, showing Kaul leading by just over 17-thousand votes or by zero-point-six-five-percent.
State law says a candidate can request a recount if the margin is below one-percentage point. However, if the margin is above a quarter of a percentage point, state law would require that the candidate seeking the recount pay for it. Schimel has yet to concede, even after Kaul claimed victory.
