Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel is warning people about spoof phone calls which will appear on caller ID as coming from a law enforcement agency like the Wisconsin DOJ or DCI.
Schimel said that several victims have called the DCI about phone calls they’re receiving that appear to be from the department. The scammer claims to be with the FBI and then makes a pitch for money. Schimel reminds Wisconsinites that the FBI and other police agencies don’t call to collect money and no one should give out personal or banking information over the phone.
