Several La Crosse groups are working together, holding a benefit called Fight the Flood. Thousands gathered at the Southside Oktoberfest grounds yesterday for a concert to benefit victims of recent flooding. Organizers say the fundraising goal was 150-thousand dollars.
On that note, environmentalists say recent floods could cause problems next year. The Clean Lakes Alliance this week said that all of the rain that fell last month could lead to an outbreak of green-blue algae next year. The Alliance is worried there could be a real problem and blue-green algae can make people sick, but it can be deadly for dogs and cats and other pets.
