Several organizations are preparing to respond to the aftermath of Hurricane Florence. Over thirty Wisconsin Red Cross disaster volunteers headed out yesterday to the Carolinas and Virginia and in an odd connection, Hurricane Florence could mean a shortage of Thanksgiving Turkeys. The monster storm is headed toward North Carolina, which is the number one turkey state in the country. Many of Butterball’s processing plants, hatcheries and feed mills are right in the storm’s projected path-so stores will try to stock more frozen turkeys to help to offset some of the projected shortage.
