It’s not a shot glass on campus getting attention.
UW-Madison is being urged to require the vaccine for meningitis-B. Immunization groups and the mother of a student who died from bacterial meningitis made the push in a letter sent to the school this month, noting two other Big Ten campuses, Indiana University and Purdue University, require it.
In response, UW officials say the university won’t join those two schools, but it does urge students to talk to their doctors about getting the vaccine. Three students at UW-Madison became seriously sick from the rare but potentially-fatal disease two years ago.
