SUN PRAIRIE UPDATES

The companies involved in the explosion in Sun Prairie this week say they are cooperating fully with the investigation.   A subcontractor working on a fiber optics project says a crew was at the site of the deadly gas explosion.  Verizon Wireless and a Kansas-based construction company said yesterday that a subcontractor of theirs was working at the site before the explosion that killed firefighter Cory Barr and injured 15 others.

UPDATES: Sun Prairie firefighter Ryan Welch is out of the hospital after being seriously injured in an explosion.  Welch was brought to Fire Station One yesterday by a procession of emergency vehicles along streets lined by dozens of cheering residents.  A post on a GoFundMe page to support Welch’s recovery said that Welch has burns on his face, a broken jaw, lost teeth, and injuries to his hands.  The explosion was set off Tuesday night by a gas leak, killing firefighter Cory Barr and injuring several others.
