It is closed to vehicle traffic and from the wheels to the water, the channel under Paint Creek Bridge is also closed to boat traffic after it partially collapsed.
Signs went up recently noting the closing. The Lafayette Town Board approved sharing the cost of demolishing the bridge with Chippewa County. Officials hope the old bridge is removed by Fourth of July weekend, with the new bridge going up by next July.
