UW–Madison is celebrating the opening of a major new campus building in a very Wisconsin way — with a brand-new ice cream flavor.
Babcock Dairy is unveiling “Levylicious Salted Turtle,” a limited-edition flavor featuring salted caramel ice cream, a chocolate fudge ribbon and roasted salted pecans.
The flavor honors UW alumni brothers Marv and Jeff Levy, whose $20 million lead gift helped make the new Irving and Dorothy Levy Hall possible. The brothers even helped choose the ingredients, refine the flavor and come up with the name during a Babcock Dairy tasting session.
Levy Hall opens Thursday and is the university’s first new humanities building in 50 years. The five-story, 136,000-square-foot building will house eight departments, with university officials expecting nearly every incoming student to eventually take a class there.
Levylicious makes its debut during Thursday’s grand opening and will also be available at the Babcock Dairy Store and participating retailers.
