Books for Bobs: Osseo Author Pens Children’s Book to Help Local Nonprofit

An Eau Claire-area animal rescue is getting some help from a new children’s book inspired by the animals it serves.

Bob’s House for Dogs + Cats has been selected for Books with Purpose, an initiative created by Osseo author Jessica Schoettle that uses storytelling to raise money for nonprofit organizations.

Schoettle has written Bob’s Pawprints: Charlie’s Journey Home, telling the story of a senior dog named Charlie who arrives at Bob’s House and follows a trail of pawprints as he discovers a place where he belongs.

The story was inspired by Bob, the dog whose memory led Travis and Amy Quella to establish Bob’s House south of Eau Claire in 2010. Since then, hundreds of senior and special-needs dogs have been cared for there while awaiting adoption or living as permanent residents or hospice patients. The organization also began welcoming senior and special-needs cats this year.

The book and a coloring-book version are now available, with all proceeds during the first year going to Bob’s House for Dogs + Cats to help provide food, medical care and a comfortable home for the animals it serves.
