The Eau Claire Fire Department says crews were dispatched just after 2:30 p.m. to the 600 block of Mathews Drive in the city’s southwest side for a reported structure fire.
Firefighters arrived to find a detached single-car garage fully involved with a vehicle inside. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading, although the heat caused damage to the siding of the nearby home. All occupants were accounted for, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
