The Green Bay Packers are reporting strong financial growth, with net income rising by nearly 47-million-dollars from last year.
Team officials said Friday both local and national revenue increased despite one fewer home game during the reporting period. President and CEO Ed Policy credits year-round events at Lambeau Field with helping boost revenue beyond football. Policy says the Packers’ status as the NFL’s only publicly-owned franchise creates unique financial challenges because the team cannot easily raise money by selling ownership stakes.
The Packers will open training camp next Wednesday with their first preseason game set for August 13th on the road against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
