The Eau Claire City-County Health Department is providing a local update on Cyclospora.
Cyclospora is single-celled parasite that infects the small intestine, causing an intestinal illness whose symptoms include explosive diarrhea. The CDC and the FDA are investigating several outbreaks of Cyclosporiasis linked this summer to fresh produce. Local health officials report that they typically identify a couple of cases each year and have seen no increase in cases so far in 2026.
