The Wisconsin Department of Justice has secured a settlement in an antitrust lawsuit against farm equipment manufacturer Deere & Company.
The settlement requires Deere to provide farmers and independent repair providers with the same equipment repair resources that it currently provides to authorized dealers for the next ten years. The settlement resolved the joint lawsuit against the company, which alleged that it used unlawful practices to limit the ability of farmers and independent repair providers to perform repairs on its farm equipment. Attorney General Kaul says the settlement “will mean that farmers have more options in many circumstances in which repairs are needed.”
