Local Cases Lead to Virtual Learning, Incentive Deadline Approaching

The spike in new coronavirus cases has a lot of kids in Chippewa Valley schools learning from home.

You may have seen this in theThe Leader Telegram. They reported that than 15-hundred students have been quarantined in the past few weeks because of close contact with some who tested positive. Just over 400 students are in quarantine in Eau Claire, another 200 or so are quarantined in Chippewa Falls, and about 130 students in Altoona schools are out as well. It’s Menomonie schools where the quarantines are surging. School leaders there say they have over one-thousand students in quarantine. Many of those students were sent home just last week.

In other public health updates, time is running out to cash-in on getting your coronavirus shot.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday said Wisconsin’s 100-dollar vaccine incentive will end on Sunday. Governor Evers announced the 100-dollar gift card offer in late August. So far, DHS says, nearly 115-thousand people in the state have qualified by getting their shot. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.
