WI Public Health Snapshot: EC Vaccine Count Up, Walk-Ins Welcome, State Hospitalizations Down

Eau Claire County’s vaccine count is going up.

City-County Health Director Lieske Giese yesterday said 13-percent of people in the county are now fully vaccinated. She’d like to see that number increase even more. Giese says they have plenty of vaccine doses, so no one should have to wait to get their shot.

You no longer have to make an appointment to get the coronavirus shot in Eau Claire.

Public health managers yesterday opened the Zorn Area vaccine clinic at UW-Eau Claire to walk-ins. Clinic managers say an appointment is still a good idea to help people avoid a long wait. Anyone 16 and older is eligible for the shot.

On the overall snapshot, fewer people are in the hospital with the coronavirus in Wisconsin.

The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 291 people in the hospital with the virus. That number was up over 300 to start the week. DHS also says hospital capacity in the state is plentiful. The latest numbers show 99-percent of hospitals in the state have beds that are immediately available. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FROM WI DHS.
