Speeding in Jackson Co. Leads to OWI for Chicago Man

A Chicago man picked up an OWI after a speeding stop.

49 year old Roosevelt O Sims, from Chicago, Illinois has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Eau Claire Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 1st offense, with six children in the vehicle under the age of 16.

It was on the morning of April 15th, at approximately 2:32 a.m., when a WI State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding, 90 m.p.h. in a 70 m.p.h. zone, on I-94 in Jackson County. The driver was identified as Roosevelt O. Sims and showed signs of impairment. A subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety testing, showed that Mr. Sims was operating a motor vehicle while impaired. There were also 6 minor children in the vehicle.

Mr. Sims was arrested and transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary chemical test of his blood. He is being charged with operating a motor vehicle while impaired with minors in the vehicle and speeding.
