Former MN Cop Arrested For Daunte Wright’s Death

A former Minnesota police officer is under arrest for the death of 20-year-old Black man Daunte Wright.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Kim Potter was arrested this morning in the capital city of St. Paul.  That’s just outside where the deadly shooting took place on Sunday in Brooklyn Center.  She’s going to face a second-degree manslaughter charge and will be booked into the Hennepin County Jail.  The BCA says charges will be filed by the Washington County Attorney’s Office later today.

When it comes to reacion, the attorney for Daunte Wright’s family says arresting former Minnesota police officer Kim Potter won’t bring him back.

In a statement, civil rights attorney Ben Crump said the 26-year veteran of the police force should know the difference between a taser and a firearm.  Meanwhile mothers of other unarmed Black men killed in the U.S. are speaking out about violence towards people of color in support of Wright’s mother.  Trayvon Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton said “this country has done something to us that will never be repaired.”
