Special Session Logs Off Quick

They call it gavel-and-go.

Wisconsin lawmakers spent less than half an hour dealing with Governor Evers’ ordered special session on unemployment yesterday. The governor called lawmakers to Madison to approve five-million-dollars to begin the process of replacing the outdated computers at the Department of Workforce Development. The governor blames those computers for the backlog that had hundreds of thousands of people in the state waiting months to get their unemployment benefits.

Lawmakers say the governor has had 10 months to deal with the problems at DWD, and they don’t need to rush into session to fix his mistakes.
