WI Lawmakers Look to Capitol Security

There’s a new push for more and better security at the Wisconsin Capitol.

State Senator Dan Feyen this week wrote a letter to Governor Evers and the state’s legislative leaders asking for tighter security at the statehouse. Feyen says there are too many open doors at the Capitol, and there are no security points or checkpoints. Feyen says the riot at the U.S. Capitol shows the need for better Capitol security here in Wisconsin.

As of now, we know that the only protest that’s planned for Madison for the next several days is a protest to demand justice for Jacob Blake.

Madison’s mayor and the city’s police chief yesterday said there is no ‘specific threat’ to the city or state Capitol ahead of Joe Biden’s inauguration. The FBI this week warned of possible violent protests in all 50 states. Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway says while there is no specific threat in her city, she will keep police and the National Guard ready for anything that pops up.
