Getting Salty in Winter

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking people to limit the amount of salt used on the pavement this winter.

They say the salt runs off the pavement into lakes and streams which can be toxic for wildlife. They say a coffee mug full of salt is plenty for a 20-feet driveway.

When it comes to the winter weather that requires that salt, we might see more of the white stuff.

A winter storm is possible later this week, according to the National Weather Service. They say the chances of a storm Thursday and Friday is growing, moving across Western Wisconsin to the Great Lakes region by Friday night. The National Weather Service says the storm has potential for plowable snow.
