It’s the season for snowy owls in Wisconsin.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the first snowy owl was spotted and photographed in Dane County in early November, but the Dane County Humane Society says they found the bird sick, and it passed away unexpectedly.

At the end of the month, the Department of Natural Resources reported three more snowy owls in Chippewa, Lincoln, and Bayfield counties. The department says the birds can be found anywhere in the state and say they’re not hard to spot with white feathers and yellow eyes.
