CITY COUNCIL TO COVER MASK DEBATE

CITY COUNCIL TO COVER MASK DEBATE

Eau Claire is not going to require that people wear masks, but city leaders are looking to recommend them.

City Council president Terry Weld is asking the council to vote tonight on a resolution that supports masks. Weld says wearing a mask could help slow the resurgence of the coronavirus. Council members are trying to be clear, anything they approve tonight will not require masks.

When it comes to the most recent coronavirus counts, more people continue to test positive for the coronavirus, but the state’s hospitals are not yet seeing a huge wave of new virus patients. The state’s Department of Health Services yesterday reported 494 new positive tests and ten new hospitalizations. That means 283 people are being treated for the virus, just 85 of them are in the ICU.

Wisconsin’s daily positive-test-rate is at seven-and-a-half percent.
