OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN SHEBOYGAN UNDER INVESTIGATION

The Wisconsin Department of Justice is looking into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Sheboygan.

Authorities say an officer responded to a call of a man with two knives early yesterday morning. The 911 call said the man was going after a woman. When the officer arrived, he ordered the man to drop the knives, the man didn’t, charged the officer, and was shot. Family members are identifying the dead man as 32-year-old Kevan Ruffin.

They say he had a mental illness, and said police did not have to kill him. Sheboygan’s police chief says the investigation is in its very, very early stages.
